Councillors in Spelthorne are to debate whether to call for a full inquiry into the death of a seven-year-old who died during a flood in 2014
Zane Gbangbola died when his home in Chertsey was flooded.
While an inquest ruled he died from carbon monoxide poisoning from a petrol-powered pump, his parents say gases from a former landfill site were responsible.
Now, independent councillor Ian Beardsmore wants an inquiry “similar to Hillsborough”.
He’s served on the borough’s planning committee for 27 years, and says “crucial evidence” about the landfill site has been ignored.
It’ll be debated next Thursday, but the council has previously accepted the inquest’s findings.
