Lambeth Council are going to drop fines against footballers who were forced to urinate on Clapham Common due to the closure of toilets

The Sunday Southern Football League had written to the authority, saying the public facilities were closed and the portaloos chained up.

Wanderers Women Football Club also wrote an open letter, saying the officers were “prowling the area” to “make some quick cash for the council”.

Lambeth have now responded, saying all facilities will be open this weekend, and credits issued to all teams who played.

It’s says “the council is sincerely sorry for the situation last weekend and the way this issue has escalated”.
