One of the most promising breakthroughs for patients with hormone receptive breast cancer has been revealed.

A team from the Royal Marsden in Sutton have pioneered a research project called MonarchE.

They found that adding a drug called abemaciclib to standard hormone therapy reduced reoccurrence in 25% of patients.

Around 70% of breast cancer patients have hormone receptor positive tumours with a higher risk of relapsing in two years.
