The government says that it’s crucial to take its time with plans for a rail network around Heathrow.

Seema Malhotra, the MP for Feltham, asked the Transport Secretary what progress is made on the Heathrow Southern Railway.

The department says that the model it’s based on needs to be appropriate, and must deliver value for money.

The network is due to be launched between 2025 and 2027, at a cost of up to £1.6bn.
