The Liberal democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has accused Boris Johnson of "failing" Britons during the coronavirus pandemic.

But, in his first party conference speech as leader, he said the Covid-19 pandemic was "showing the best of the British people".

Sir Ed - who spoke about his experiences of caring for his mother, grandmother and son - also promised to be "the voice of the nine million carers" in the UK.
