The Labour MPs in the area are writing to the Health Secretary, calling for high capacity and a permanent site in the area.
People in the area have reported driving 100 miles or paying £250 for a test, if they could get one at all.
They’re also highlighting the need for testing to prevent children missing school.
A Health Spokesperson says: “NHS Test and Trace is providing tests at an unprecedented
scale - we are processing more than 200,000 a day on average over the last week
– and we are targeting testing capacity at the areas that need it most. More
than 1 in 10 people in England have been tested at least once since the service
launched.”
