A charity in Wallington has received a donation of £9000 after a company from Leeds illegally tapped into a fire hydrant to take water.

Wallington Community Wellbeing received the windfall from SES Water from monies received after prosecution of Lanes for Drains.

The company pleading guilty to unauthorised use of a standpipe from Wallington in February this year.

Water supplied to over 600 customers was affected. It appeared cloudy as the pipe network had been disturbed.
