Currently, residents who wish their loved ones to be cremated must travel to Leatherhead, Crawley or Croydon.
A suitable site has been identified in Woodhatch, in a
“semi-rural” and “tranquil” location.
Typically, there needs to be 150,000 people in a borough to
justify building one, and Reigate and Banstead was just under that at the last
count.
The council is consulting on the plans.
