A decision on plans to redevelop an historic site in Epsom has been deferred

Residents want the council to preserve the historic Wells Estate within Epsom Common.

It sits a stone’s throw away from Epsom Well; the site of the world-famous Epsom Salts and birthplace of the town.

But developers want to turn it into a brand-new village with housing, a playground and a purpose-built community centre.

The council has acknowledged that more housing is needed in the town.

However, at a virtual meeting, councillors decided to defer rather than deny it altogether.

The “Save the Wells Centre Epsom” campaign has now launched on social media.
