Colleagues of Matt Ratana and the Mayor of Croydon fell silent at 11am.
They were joined remotely by councillors representing both of the borough’s main parties and council staff.
The council also lowered the flag outside Croydon town hall to half-mast in tribute to Sgt Ratana.
