Professor Paul Townsend will lead the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
He brings with him expertise in the field of cell stress and survival along with experience in industry and enterprise.
The Faculty is currently involved in developing a Covid-19 vaccine and a virus test that gives results in 30 minutes.
