It's understood the Prime Minister's met with senior members of his Cabinet to discuss the restrictions following rising coronavirus infection rates and hospital admissions.
Currently London is in Tier 2 which
prevents households from mixing indoors.
While government reports suggest the national
R rate – the rate at which the virus is spreading - sits between 1.1 and 1.3,
London’s R rate is currently 2.86.
Hammersmith and Fulham has the highest
rate of infections with 217 cases per 100,000 people,
followed by Ealing, then Kingston.
