Metropolitan police officers initially tried to halt the suspicious vehicle as it sped along Hook Parade towards Chessington
Officers from Surrey Police then came to their assistance, including members of an armed response unit, when the car crossed the county boundary.
No officers were hurt and the two police cars were not badly damaged.
A man, found to be over the drink-drive limit, was arrested at the scene.
