More than 500 new creatures and species have been identified by Natural History Museum scientists in South Kensington this year.

They include a monkey which lives on the side of an extinct volcano, miniature tarantulas and a lungless worm salamander.

In total, 503 species from almost all kingdoms of life have been studied for the first time.
