170 bodies are being stored at a temporary facility at Headley Court, as COVID-19 cases rise.

According to the Surrey Local Resilience Forum, more than half of those kept at the facility died of COVID-19.

The temporary facility has room for 800 bodies, while the hospital mortuaries have the capacity for only 600.

The spokesman told the PA news agency the county would be in “real difficulty” if the capacity is exceeded in the coming weeks.
