A company from Chertsey at the centre of a controversy about a free school meal hamper is being given an extra £3.50 per child per week

Chartwells says it’s to “enhance” their offer, and has been given to them by the Department for Education.

A picture on Twitter has been shared nearly 19,000 times, showing what Marcus Rashford calls an “unacceptable” amount of food.

The catering company says they are “very sorry” and will be contacting schools to review hampers, and will offer refunds.

Paul Walsh, who was the chairman until December, is a Tory party donor and former member of David Cameron’s business advisory group.
