Epsom and Ewell Council says it’s seen a rise in reports of tenants being threatened with eviction by private landlords

The authority is reminding those who rent out properties that the government has extended the provisions of the Coronavirus Act 2020.

This means landlords aren’t able to start possession proceedings in most circumstances unless they’ve given tenants six months’ notice.

Harassment and illegal eviction is a criminal offence.
