Fewer people are following the stay-at-home rules now than in the first lockdown due to the Government’s mixed messaging.

Figures from Transport for London show 200,000 Tube journeys were taken yesterday morning, representing 18% of pre-pandemic demand.

In the first lockdown, that figure fell as low as 10%.

Scientists believe that because this lockdown is less stringent, people are more encouraged to leave their homes.
