Firefighters have issued a smoking safety reminder after a fire broke out in a sheltered accommodation in West Ealing.

The accommodation was on Gurnell Grove where part of a ground floor day room was damaged by the fire.

The Brigade were called at 4:41am and the fire was brought under control by 5:42am.

Around 30 residents were evacuated from the premises and there were no reports of any injuries.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by the unsafe disposal of a cigarette.
