Hammersmith and Fulham Council says it “makes no apology for asking fit people vigorously exercising to be considerate to protect each other”

It’s after a video emerged of what appears to be a COVID marshal stopping a jogger on the riverside for “breathing heavily”.

People are being asked to avoid the area at busy times.

Commenting on the video, Home Secretary Priti Patel told This Morning that exercising once a day is allowed.

She adds that it’s “vital for wellbeing”.

“The new strain of Covid is 70 per cent more contagious than the first. London is an epicentre of the bigger second wave.

“So, we make no apology for asking fit people vigorously exercising to be considerate to protect other, often elderly, people taking a more leisurely stroll.

“Runners and cyclists should please avoid the popular riverfront at busy times.”
