More than 500 “face mask exemption” badges have been taken off eBay by officers from Kingston and Sutton Councils.

The UK Government Official badges were being sold illegally online, often with anti-covid messages undermining public health controls.

200 other listings which “posed a risk to public health and safety” were also targeted.

The trading standards team says they continue to monitor physical retail premises as well as online.
