There’s a warning that green belt land in Spelthorne may have to be built on if its to meet its housing quota

The government had revised its way of calculating the number of homes each authority had to build, and Spelthorne ended up with a lower number.

However, it’s since scrapped that new method, after pressure from authorities who saw their numbers go up.

Deputy Council Leader Jim McIlroy says it’s a “crushing disappointment” and they’re going to “fight the government on this”.
