A campaign has been launched to "stop the sale" of the historic Guildhall in Kingston.

Councillors voted last Thursday to proceed with a regeneration plan encompassing The Kingfisher Leisure Centre. 

But the "Save Royal Kingston" campaign group claims the plan would mean the "disposal" of the Grade II listed Guildhall and relocation of the Grade I listed Coronation Stone.

The group says it believes that these assets should be listed as an Asset of Community Value.

Kingston Council has been contacted for comment.
