A petition calling for a law to force supermarkets to donate their surplus food to charity has received over 800 signatures

It was set up by the Berrylands-based Save The World Club, who say that less than 9% is being given to food banks.

The rest is either put into landfill, or incinerated, adding to climate change.

Kingston MP Sir Ed Davey says every part of society needs to do their bit to reduce food waste.
