The law should change so that more surplus supermarket food can be given to those in need

That’s what a petition is saying, which was started by John Hewlett, from the Save the World Club in Berrylands.

While many supermarkets are giving surplus food to food banks, the law prevents them giving chilled goods.

Tariq, from Save the World Club, says some of the food isn’t just put into landfill, it’s incinerated.
