"Essential" conservation work is being undertaken on a number of endangered trees across Richmond.

The borough has one of the most important populations of native Black Poplar in the country.

There are only 7,000 remaining in the entire UK and Richmond is home to over 70 specimens.

Specialised 'halo clearance' work, which began this week, will ensure the trees' future by reducing the negative impacts of completing plants.
