A tree planting ceremony is taking place in Twickenham on Friday hosted by the Mayor of Richmond.

The English Oak is to be planted at Moormead Recreation ground as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

Further trees are to be planted across Richmond for the  “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” initiative marking Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

English Oaks can grow to a height of 30 to 40 feet and their wood is still used in the construction of houses.
