Croydon Council has been loaned £25m by the government

The authority is hoping to be financially sustainable by 2024, after almost going bankrupt in 2020.

A budget for this year has been approved, which will include a 1.99% council tax increase, and 1% more for adult social care.

However, they’re ensuring every library and children’s centre will remain open, and they’re putting money into protecting the vulnerable.
