The site has been closed for repair after a problem was found with the ceiling tiles.
It was a similar situation to the one found at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre in 2019 which forced its immediate closure.
That pool is now out of action until the leisure centre can be demolished and another one rebuilt in its place.
Lib Dem leader Andreas Kirsch also acknowledges that when the Malden Centre is redeveloped, the pool will be moved.
But he says they won’t close the Malden Centre pool without reopening the new one, at a different location, first.
