Spelthorne Council has had to rewrite its rules on complaints, after too many “frivolous” issues were raised.

36 councillors have complained of misconduct by other councillors in the past two years.

There’s now no right of appeal against finding a breach or deciding not to take any further action.

Since January 2020, there have been 50 complaints by the public, staff and councillors, out of which only four have been referred for further action.
