Spelthorne has received 41 cherry trees from Japan.

5,000 cherry trees will be planted across the UK as a way of celebrating the ties between the countries.

Spelthorne councillors have visited Japan, at their own expense, over the past two decades, to learn from local governments all over the world.

The borough’s allocation will be planted at areas including Staines Lammas and Rivermead Island.
