Police were called to Gridwood Road just before midnight.
The boy was attended by ambulance crew on the scene and taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
His next of kin have been informed.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and anyone with any information is asked to call 101.
