A police officer who knocked down and killed a pedestrian in Hounslow has been banned from policing

33 year-old Daniel Francis was pursuing another vehicle along Whitton Road when his car struck 23 year-old Earth-scientist Andrew Brown on a zebra crossing.

Two months ago Francis admitted causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at the Old Bailey.

He was sentenced to twelve months in prison suspended for two years for the offence, which happened in November 2019.

His ban from policing and dismissal from the Met follows findings of gross misconduct by the Independent Office for Police conduct.
