According to research by Europcar, 29% of drivers in the South East of England are unaware that cyclists can cycle in the centre of a lane.
12% also don’t realise they have to give way to pedestrians waiting to cross or who are crossing a junction.
Falling foul of the new rules of the Code can result in a fine, penalty points or even disqualification.
