Teachers have gone on strike at a catholic school in Purley that cancelled a talk by a gay author

John Fisher school is currently closed due to staff shortages.

The Archdiocese of Southwark recommended that Simon James Green not speak, and sacked the governors when they voted against that.

Dr Hughes, Diocesan Schools Commissioner, says some events “fall outside the scope of what is permissible in a Catholic school” and they must act within their “well known theological and moral precepts”.
