The former Chief Executive of Croydon Council received over £600,000 last year, despite the authority almost going bankrupt.

Jo Negrini received a salary of over £150,000, and a similar sum as a loss of office payment.

The number of staff receiving over £100,000 at authorities nationwide during the pandemic jumped by 119 to nearly 3,000 people.

The figures have been published by the Taxpayer’s Alliance.
