Three years ago, a stretch of the Thames Riverside at Surbiton was unloved, overgrown and littered with rubbish.

Today, volunteers have transformed Queen’s Promenade into a space full of flowers and trees and they’ve also created a “pocket park.” 

Julian Meers is Chair of the volunteer group known as Queen’s Promenade Friends. 

He says the walking route has some real historic significance that needs preserving.
