Volunteers are being sought to keep an important part of South West London’s rail heritage in operation

The Hampton and Kempton waterworks railway was built a little over 100 years ago to supply coal to the vast steam engines which drove the pumps at the waterworks there.

A preservation group which took over the line in 2003 is now looking for volunteers including drivers and fire stokers for the engines.

More details on the railway’s website.
