Around 4-thousand union members are walking out at 26 institutions across England, including Croydon College.
They argue their wages have fallen behind inflation by 35% since 2009.
Another seven days of walkouts are planned next month.
Janet Farrar, the president of the University and College Union, says they've been forced to take action.
