Battersea Power Station is finally getting ready to reopen to the public after a £9 billion renovation
Its iconic double chimneys have adorned album covers for the likes of Pink Floyd and Morrissey and starred alongside The Beatles in films.
Redevelopment of site has been 40 years in the making, following a number of failed attempts and aborted plans.
Building work on the station started in 1929 and was finished in 1955 before the whole site was decommissioned in 1975.
In 1980, Battersea was given Grade II listed status which was then upgraded in 2007, but it’s been sitting empty since 2014.
Tonight, visitors will be able to step inside the iconic building, which has been turned into an event and shopping space, for the first time.
The new build features bars, shops, restaurants and event space as well as homes.
However, the project hasn’t been without controversy.
Wandsworth’s Labour councillors are boycotting the grand opening due to a lack of social housing.
