The Mitcham and Morden MP spoke in the House of Commons following residents’ concerns of a gas explosion in Thornton Heath.

MP, Siobhain McDonagh, asked for assistance from the government and clarity on who should be picking up the bill during an emergency.

The body of four-year-old Sahara Salman was recovered from the ruins of a house after the explosion on the 8th of August.

McDonagh shared that Sahara’s mother and siblings are still homeless and sleeping on the floor- 10 weeks after the tragedy.

The council may be eligible for a government scheme which would offer financial support to those affected.
