New figures obtained by the Lib Dems have revealed the extent of the NHS crisis affecting Esher and Walton

1,700 people waited over 4 hours to be seen at Kingston and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals in December.

The average ambulance response time for urgent Category 1 incidents in Surrey was 11.02 minutes in the month before Christmas.

The NHS target is 7 minutes.

Ambulance response times for Category 2 emergencies are now 46.14 minutes, above the 18-minute target.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance said:

We are doing everything we can to reach everyone who need assistance as quickly as possible, while prioritising our response to our most seriously ill and injured patients.

We have also contacted Kingston and Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals for comment.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) spokesperson said:

“We are doing everything we can to reach everyone who need assistance as quickly as possible, while prioritising our response to our most seriously ill and injured patients.

“We would like to thank our staff and volunteers for their hard work and commitment and we continue to work closely with hospitals across our region to minimise handover delays to ensure we are as best placed as possible to attend patients in the community requiring an ambulance response.

“The public can help us manage demand by only calling 999 in an emergency. We also urge everyone to make use of alternatives for help and advice including visiting NHS 111 Online at 111.nhs.uk or by calling 111.”
