A 21-year-old man from Lagos was promised 7-thousand pounds and a better life in London in return for his kidney.
An investigation was launched after their original victim walked into a police station in Staines in distress.
Reporter Matthew Thompson says the court heard the victim was visibly relieved when doctors said the operation wouldn't happen.
