Average rents on a newly-let home outside London have passed £1,000 per month for the first time

That's 7.8% more than the same time last year - or an extra £72 per month.

In Greater London, the average has risen 17% to £ 2,210. 

The figures from Hamptons show this occurred less than three years after the figures which include London passed the same milestone.
