Rafael Nadal's participation in the French Open hangs in the balance after he turned down a wildcard entry into this week's ATP Challenger event in Bordeaux.

The Spaniard - who's hoping to defend his Grand Slam title at Roland Garros later this month - hasn't played since the Australian Open due to injury.

Two time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will play the Bordeaux warm-up tournament though and has been handed a tough draw.

He could face fellow three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in his first match.
