London Fire Brigade says it supports Government proposals to allow changes to road layouts across the capital
It’s after some residents in Kingston said introducing “Low Traffic Neighbourhood” trials could have a dangerous impact. Roads like Albert Road and Lower Han Road have been shut to through traffic to allow for more cycling and walking. Similar schemes are cropping up across London with planters and barriers being installed. But residents say the drive could mean larger vehicles like fire engines are unable to access the routes in an emergency. LFB has told us “Whenever there are road closures or changes to road layout, firefighters will inspect whether they will have an impact. If crews deem there will be a significant effect on them responding to an emergency, this will be raised with the council.”
