London, most of Essex and Elmbridge are being added to Tier 2, moving into the "high" Covid Alert Level.

The tougher measures will also apply to Barrow-in-Furness, Erewash and Chesterfield, York and North East Derbyshire

From Saturday, people won't be allowed to mix inside with other households - including pubs and restaurants.

But the shadow health secretary Jonathan Ashworth wants Matt Hancock to take tougher action.
