Water Voles are going to be reintroduced to the Hogsmill River

It’s after a crowdfunder successfully raised £17,000, which it will use to buy the voles from a specialised breeder.

That includes £5,000 from Chessington World of Adventures.

Elliot Newton, who heads up the Citizen Zoo project, says “I’ve never been more proud to be part of our community”.

The Water Vole is the UK’s fastest declining species, due to habitat erosion and the invasive American mink.
