A nurse who was stopped and searched by police a year ago, while driving in Wandsworth, still has nightmares about it.
Natalie Bennett said: "Every time I see a police car, a marked car or a police officer... I can literally feel my heart going through my whole body." MET police traffic stops will be reviewed after new figures have shown that black people are six times more likely to be stopped than a white person. The mayor of London has set aside £1.7m to improve police training and increase recruitment from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. Sadiq Khan also said, “there are now 5,000 BAME officers in the force – up from just over 3,000 a decade ago.”
