Calls for an inquiry into the death of a boy from Chertsey during a flood in 2014 have been refused
Spelthorne Council wrote to the government, looking for a “Hillsborough level” investigation. However, the Department of Environment, Food and rural affairs, says that the family should contact the attorney general themselves. Seven-year-old Zane Gbangbola died during a flood, and an inquest ruled it was due to a petrol-powered pump used to clear floodwater. His parents allege it was due to chemicals from a former dump behind their home, and the pump was not in use.
